Always keep them maxed compared to what your max storage is. At 150% happiness your resource income will be 2x what it is now. On another note, I left my window open all night and didn't generate a single beam -_-

Either use cat power to send them to hunt, or build ampitheathres. Using catpower only temporarily increases happiness, while amphitheatres increase it permanently. The more happiness you have, the more resources you will produce.
